Sunday’s Must-Watch Match-ups:
Alison Riske (USA) vs. Casey Dellacqua (AUS)
Stadium Court, First Match, Noon

Riske and Dellacqua open the action on Stadium Court at this year’s event, as both players make their third visit to the Connecticut Open. Last year, the American advanced through qualifying and into the Round of 16, while Dellacqua last played in New Haven in 2008 where she produced the same effort. Both players have had success in 2014, reaching respective career-high rankings, while Dellacqua currently sits at her career best of No. 30.

Riske’s countrywoman, Coco Vandeweghe, takes the court second, the American facing hard-hitting Camila Giorgi of Italy.

Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) vs. Roberta Vinci (ITA)
Stadium Court, Third Match after Noon

Makarova has been playing phenomenal tennis of late, advancing to at least the quarterfinals at four of her last five tournaments (including a tournament known as Wimbledon… ), and boasting a career-high ranking of World No. 18. The Russian also made the quarterfinals last year in New Haven. However, the crafty Italian Vinci has also produced an impressive month, with runner-up efforts in Istanbul and Bucharest.
