Tsurenko, granted an entry into the main draw following the withdrawal of Simona Halep, has made the most of her good fortune in New Haven, bouncing Barbora Strycova in the second round before advancing past Pliskova. The Ukrainian will face either Lucie Safarova or Dominika Cibulkova in the semifinals.
