Blake, Roddick Set for Battle on Night Two of Legends Event

Twenty-four hours after facing a former world No. 1 and Grand Slam winner, Connecticut native and two-time champion here James Blake gets another Thursday night: Andy Roddick.

The Fairfield-raised Blake will play in night two of the Men’s Legends Event on Thursday against Roddick at the Connecticut Open presented by United Technologies after beating Jim Courier 7-5, 6-3 on Stadium Court.

The fun-loving exhibition is complementing the world-class women’s action taking place on court this week. Thursday night former US Open champion Sam Stosur will take on Kirsten Flipkens, a 2013 semifinalist at Wimbledon, before the Blake-Roddick clash.

Roddick leads their head-to-head as pros 9-3, though Blake won the last final they played at a tournament in Indianapolis in 2006. Roddick never played at the New Haven event during his career.
