After a semifinal appearance in the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, a Premier WTA Tournament in Rome, Sara Errani has risen to a career-high ranking of No. 5 in the world. She is now the second Italian in history to rank in the top 5 of the WTA (Schiavone – No. 4).

Errani, a clay court specialist who loves to push her opponents behind the baseline with heavy topspin and then use her deft hands to hit precise dropshots, won her seventh WTA title earlier this year in Acapulco and will set out to defend her place in the French Open finals when the tournament begins on May 26.

She is now the only player in the top 5 in both singles and doubles, as she holds the No. 1 ranking in doubles along with partner and compatriot Roberta Vinci. The pair has won 16 career doubles titles and is the reigning champions of three of the four Grand Slams.

We look forward to welcoming Sara to the New Haven Open for the seventh time this August and hope you will be there to cheer on this amazing Italian player!”
